Zills of Fury?

Alicia’s shows include, not only her “Zills of Fury” but also, mysterious veils, tricky double veils, shiny Isis Wings, smoldering candles, traditional canes, and intimidating swords.  Fun for the whole family!  A show will typically consist of a 20 minute performance fused with traditional and modern melodies.  The finale always includes audience participation and a crash-course in Oriental Dance.

*Belly Busters- Belly Dance Fitness for all levels:
Saturdays at 11 AM

A class for those who want a fun and exotic way to feel the burn! This class will be an hour of pure movement with more emphasis on the physical aspects of the dance. Alicia uses her fun and easy to learn techniques to help sculpt and tone your belly dancing muscles. You will learn fun dance combinations and drills that help work core muscle groups. This is a great class if you want an hour of sweating, burning, and belly rolls. All levels welcome!

*Beginner Belly Dance:  Tuesdays at 7 PM

The Beginner Belly Dance class is a great class to drop in on, at any level!  You will learn how to take the foundational movements of belly dance and put them into fun combinations.  Not only is this class a workout because you are constantly moving, but it is also a great class to get a taste of what belly dance is all about.  This class also introduces the finger cymbals or zills.

*Intermediate Belly Dance: Tuesdays at 8 PM or Saturdays at 12 PM

Incorporating props (zills, veil, sword, etc) into the lesson plan, this intermediate class is great for those ready to move on to the next level. This class includes topics such as performance, choreography, layering, shimmy technique, the physics of veil-work, and complex step-combinations.  More detail is given to the different styles of belly dance (folkloric, cabaret, tribal) and the different rhythms.  We are consistently working on choreography and perform frequently.

*I am also considering a Kids Belly Dance Class (e-mail me if you are interested and I will see about getting it implemented on Saturdays)

Kids Belly Dance Description:

This class is great for kids 5-12!  I will use my Early Childhood Education/experience to create this fun, age-appropriate class.  Not only will children learn cultural awareness, healthy body image, coordination skills, and exciting new ways to cheer but they will also learn fun choreography and simple belly dance combinations.

Private Instruction is available upon request. Would you like to work on your veil technique, zills, shimmies, learn a choreography or would you like an in-depth introduction to Oriental Dance? Please contact Alicia for details.
